| This is a list of common questions and answers about our daycare. Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LICENSED AND REGISTERED PROVIDERS? Licensed providers' homes are inspected yearly by both the State Health Department and the City Fire Marshall. Registered providers aren't inspected unless a complaint is filed. Licensed providers can keep up to 10 children, with only 7 under the age of kindergarten. Registered providers can keep a maximum of 6 children. DID YOU KNOW that the State of KS does not require your daycare provider to have CPR and FIRST AID training kept current? Because your child's safety is the utmost importance to me, I keep BOTH current and posted for your inspection WHAT HOLIDAYS ARE YOU CLOSED? I am closed for the major holidays: Labor Day July 4 Memorial Day Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Two days at Christmas (to be determined on an annual basis) HOW OFTEN TO YOU TAKE A VACATION OR A DAY OFF? Because I was at one time a mom who relied on daycare, I know what a loop it can throw you in when your provider is away. For that reason, I seldom take a vacation. In fact, at the time of this writing (Feb. 2010), I have had 1 one-week vacation is the past 10 years! I may take off one day here and there (usually a Friday), but, when and if I do, you'll have at least a 2 week notice. I will NEVER call you telling you "my in-laws are in town" or "I have a headache and will be closed"! I don't want to leave you without daycare, and pride myself on being very dependable. What curriculum do you use? I don't use any one curriculum, but a variety of curriculum I've collected over 20 years to best help teach your child. There is no extra charge for parent's for our curriculum! How many children do you keep? I am licensed for 10 children, but normally keep 7 preschool aged children. On school days out, I may have some school aged children. (Licensed capacity allows 10 children, with only 7 of those children being preschool age) When would my child be excluded from daycare? 101 or above temperature Diarrhea Vomiting Contagious illnesses such as mumps, measles and chicken pox. As per state regulations, children with any of the above symptoms shall not return to daycare for a period of 24 hours from the last episode of the above, and must be symptom free before returning I'm trying to potty train my child. Will you help? I very actively help potty train your child. I also often offer parenting tips in my newsletters regarding such issues as potty training, sleeping, eating and other parenting questions. My child is a picky eater. What type of meals do you serve? I have had many parents over the years voice this concern. I have found children eat better when in a group of their peers. I serve child friendly, home-cooked and nutritious meals full of colors and textures. I am on a Government food program that requires me to meet certain healthy food guidelines. Your child will be served a variety of foods though out the day, and will be served Vitamin C daily and Vitamin A a minimum of twice weekly. The food program requires the following meal components: Breakfast: bread and fruit or vegetable plus milk Snack: Two servings from the four food groups Lunch: Iron, two servings of fruits and/or vegetables, bread, milk I also make sure the children drink plenty of water a day Have you ever had a child injured while in your care? NO! Other than normal bumps and bruises kids may get from playing, I do everything in my power to maintain a safe home, and protecting the children in my care are a top priority. |
