AMAZING TOTS NEWS
JUNE 2009
Below is a run down of our June themes.  Please check back as I am continually adding to our daily learning plans.
Please keep in mine that EVERYTHING we do will not be listed.  Our days are full of games and activities to help your
child's learning adventure

Each theme will be filled with LOTS of crafts that might not be mentioned.  In addition, we'll work on letters and letter
sounds
Week 3

FATHER'S WEEK

Dads,
Get ready to be honored with lots of special crafts made by your child

Our Mother's Day breakfast was such a success, I'd like to do something for our Dads.  Almost all of my kids are dropped off by their mothers, so I would like feedback
and RSVPs to see if Dads would be able to come for a Father's Breakfast.   

Biscuits and Gravy
Hash browns
Orange Juice
Coffee



*Critical thinking skills
*Math (various; depending on age of child)
*Colors and shapes
*shadow matching (tools)
*Reading, letters and letter sounds
*Sorting and measuring
* Writing and per-writing skills
*Visual discrimination
*Lots of marvelous craft gifts for dad
Week 2

TIME

Depending on your child's learning level
we will be

* Learning to tell time
* Counting to 12
* Identifying "O'clock" and "Thirty"
* Number Recognition
* Critical thinking math concepts based on time

Science:  Learning different ways to tell time
History:  Early time devices
(sun dials, water clocks, hour glass, etc)
Crafts include making our own sun dials, pendulum clocks and LOTS more
Week 4

MONEY MATTERS

Depending on learning levels:

*Identifying different coins (penny, dime, etc)
*Counting
*Money math concepts
We will have a pretend store where children can 'buy' things, paint ceramic piggy banks, canvas loot bags, homemade wallets, wooden treasure chests and more
fabulous crafts to take home.
Week 1

DINOSAURS

Your child will become a Dinosaur detective as we learn about dinosaurs.  We will
*excavate for fossils.  
*Shadow matching
*Letter and Number dot to dots
*Math as we count and add "dino" bones
*Science: decalicification of dino eggs and bones

*Vocabulary words:  Species
Predator
Extinct
*Social Studies:  How dinosaurs are like/different than humans.
*History of Dinosaurs
* visual discrimination
(all theme based)
